Per Axbom – a middle-aged white man with short hair, and short greying beard. Smiling slightly with arms crossed in front of a lake. He's wearing a pink dress shirt.

Hey friend,

I'm Per Axbom, an old-school computer geek with a close eye on human rights, compassion and ethics in a networked world. I publish essays, guides, and graphics to help recognize, minimize and prevent harms in the tech sphere and beyond. And I highlight more good-hearted ways of working and acting.

Born in Liberia to Swedish parents, I came to grow up in Saudi Arabia and Tanzania, ending up in Stockholm after more than twenty relocations. My early exposure to different cultures, perspectives, dreams and struggles has played a big role in my efforts to help more people see and treat others with kindness.

  • Kindness is sadly absent from deceptive innovation that sidesteps regulation.
  • And compassion is missing from artificial urgency that is claimed to be inevitable.

As I resist and push back on abusive actors, my power source is you, dearest fellow being. Your voice. Your feedback. Your story. When you tell me what's broken I can explore, map and teach ways of fixing it. I can invite a robust, purposeful mindset.

Writing is my first love, and a sketchpad is my weapon of choice in a duel. It brings me joy to use my skills in communication and design to be of service to others.

Since 2024 I have a mechanical heart valve and the human-machine borderland has become even more personal. Say hi, and say how I can be of help.
